Meet Dr. Ryan Clagett
Ryan Clagett, D.M.D., M.S.
Diplomate, American Board of Periodontology
Dr. Ryan Clagett returned to his hometown of Elizabethtown in 2006 following completion of his Periodontal residency at the University of Louisville to continue in his family’s dental footsteps. Dr. Clagett’s grandfather, Robert, began his dental practice in Elizabethtown in 1947 and his father and uncle joined the practice in 1975. His father, Dan, still practices today.
Since beginning his private practice, Dr. Clagett has been involved in many aspects of academics and organized dentistry. He founded the Bluegrass Select Dental Study Club as well as the Clagett Periodontics Dental Hygiene Study Club. He also provides continuing education courses locally, nationally and internationally. He has lectured at the Kentucky Dental Association Annual Meeting, the NYU Global Implant Symposium and to numerous Dental Study Clubs across the US on dental implants, gum recession treatment and practice management. He has served as a Clinical Advisor to Zimmer Dental and is a past professor at the University of Louisville.
In 2018 he will be President of the Southern Academy of Periodontology and has also served as Treasurer, Membership Chairman and Chairman of the Corporate Advisory Board. Dr. Clagett is also active nationally with the American Academy of Periodontology, serving on the Practice Management and Marketing committee, State and Regional Advisory committee and the Continuing Education Oversight Committee.
Following graduation from the University of Kentucky in 1999, Dr. Clagett attended dental school at the University of Louisville and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2003. He received his Specialty Certificate in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in 2006 as well as his Masters of Oral Biology. In 2007, he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
In his free time, Dr. Clagett competes in triathlons and also enjoys traveling, cooking and watching Notre Dame football with his wife, Cassie, and their three children.
